Manchester United are reportedly in early discussions to bring AC Milan’s Rafael Leão to Old Trafford in a surprising summer move. The Portuguese star has emerged as a priority for United as they aim to retool their frontline under the guidance of new manager Rúben Amorim. Leão’s profile — explosive pace, positional versatility, and top-flight experience — makes him a tempting addition to a squad that’s looking to restore its attacking potency after a disappointing season in front of goal.
United have already spent big this window, shelling out around £62.5 million to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. They’re also actively negotiating with Brentford for Bryan Mbeumo, a move that could cost them a similar amount. The plan clearly points toward a complete renovation of their attacking trident, with a fresh look built around dynamic, versatile forwards.
Several big names might be exiting Old Trafford, making room for this shift. Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and even rising star Alejandro Garnacho are all reportedly on the chopping block. Garnacho’s rumored move to Chelsea, though yet to be officially confirmed, has already sparked emotional farewells and fan protests. The wide areas at United, once overloaded with options, may soon look barren — hence the interest in someone like Leão.
AC Milan, for their part, are reportedly open to negotiations, albeit reluctantly. Leão has three years left on his contract, and the club have slapped an £84 million valuation on his head.
