Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, according to Spanish source Fichajes. The 23-year-old Brazilian joined Real Madrid from Santos in 2018 and has since contributed significantly to the team’s success, helping them win two Champions League titles and numerous domestic trophies.
Despite his key role in the squad, Rodrygo’s future at the Santiago Bernabéu is in doubt due to the recent signing of Kylian Mbappé. This has fueled speculation about Rodrygo’s potential exit from the club, with Arsenal emerging as the top contender for his signature in the Premier League.
Real Madrid appears open to selling Rodrygo if they receive a substantial offer. They were reportedly seeking around £134 million for him during the summer transfer window, and since he is under contract until 2028, they are in a strong position to demand a significant fee. Interest in the winger has grown, with Liverpool also showing signs of pursuing him.
Rodrygo is a versatile forward, capable of playing in various attacking positions, though he prefers operating from the left wing.
However, his opportunities on that flank have been limited at Real Madrid due to the presence of fellow Brazilian Vinícius Jr. Arsenal, eager to bolster their squad, are especially keen on Rodrygo’s potential and see him as a valuable addition.
In other news, after suffering a disappointing 2-0 loss to AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League, Arsenal recently bounced back with an impressive victory over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League.
This weekend, they face title rivals Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium, aiming to secure three points and close the gap at the top of the table.
Mikel Arteta’s team is keen to maintain their form and improve their chances in both domestic and European competitions, with Rodrygo potentially becoming a key figure in their future plans.
