Barcelona has resumed training under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick as they prepare for their upcoming La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano. Following a dominant 4-1 victory over Sevilla in their last match, the Catalan club is set to face Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
Currently, Barcelona occupies third place in the league standings, trailing second-placed Atletico Madrid by just one point and sitting two points behind leaders Real Madrid.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona is expected to make strategic moves in the market, with one of the most talked-about potential signings being Dusan Vlahovic. According to reports from the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Juventus has decided to put the Serbian striker up for sale. Given his profile and abilities, Vlahovic is seen as a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s tactical plans.
Barcelona is keeping a close eye on Vlahovic’s availability, particularly as Flick seeks a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish striker, who turns 37 in August, has shown signs of decline, making it imperative for Barcelona to secure a younger, prolific goal-scorer. Since taking charge, Flick has emphasized the need for a strong, adaptable striker capable of integrating seamlessly into the team’s playing style. In this regard, Vlahovic appears to tick all the necessary boxes.
Standing at 1.90 meters, Vlahovic is a traditional number nine with a strong physical presence, excellent aerial ability, and the capability to score with both feet. At 25 years old, he still has significant room for growth, making him an ideal candidate to lead Barcelona’s attack for the foreseeable future.
Flick particularly values his movement inside the box, work rate off the ball, and ability to link up with wingers—a crucial trait in a team featuring talented wide players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Despite Juventus’ willingness to sell, Barcelona faces a major hurdle in securing the striker—his high price tag, which is estimated to be between 60 and 70 million euros. Given the club’s ongoing financial struggles, raising the necessary funds will require significant player sales.
Potential departures could include Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, or even Frenkie de Jong, as Barcelona seeks to free up wage space and generate revenue.
