A major twist has emerged in the investigation of the recent car accident involving football star Diogo Jota, as a key figure in the case has come forward with claims that could dramatically alter the public’s perception of the incident.
The truck driver involved in the crash has broken his silence, offering a new perspective that firmly clears Jota of blame and highlights a shocking detail that police seemingly ignored.
The incident, which stunned football fans and left the sports world reeling, initially placed Diogo Jota under scrutiny, with preliminary reports suggesting reckless driving on his part.
Early findings from authorities pointed fingers at the Liverpool forward, alleging he had been speeding at the time of the accident. However, the lorry driver, whose vehicle was directly involved in the collision, has now provided a completely different account that challenges the official narrative.
In a revealing interview with local media, the driver—choosing to remain anonymous—insisted that Jota was not driving irresponsibly.
According to him, the reports painting the footballer as reckless are misleading. “I’ve seen what’s been said on the news, and it’s wrong. He wasn’t speeding at all. In fact, he was more cautious than most drivers I encounter at night,” the truck driver claimed.
More alarmingly, he pointed to a crucial element that had, until now, been absent from official reports. The driver disclosed that another vehicle, with no headlights on and swerving dangerously across lanes, appeared just moments before the crash occurred.
He believes this unidentified car was the real cause of the incident, forcing Jota to react suddenly in an attempt to avoid a collision. “That car came out of nowhere, moving recklessly across both lanes. It was clear to me that Jota was trying to avoid it. I don’t understand why no one has mentioned that car,” he added.
The driver’s statements have sparked widespread debate online, with fans, pundits, and legal analysts calling for a complete reassessment of the case. Questions are being raised about whether authorities rushed to conclusions without having a full picture of the situation.
While Liverpool FC has not yet issued a formal comment, insiders suggest the club is actively reviewing available video evidence, including traffic cameras and dashcam footage, to verify the driver’s testimony. With the investigation now reopened and new leads emerging, the case remains unresolved as Jota’s reputation and future hang in the balance.
