Arsenal’s transfer window has been largely uneventful so far, but a surge of activity is looming on the horizon. New sporting director Andrea Berta has stepped forward with a bold plan, officially naming four major signings set to be completed this week. Alongside this influx, the club is preparing to offload seven players, with notable names like Thomas Partey and Gabriel Martinelli potentially heading for the exit.
At the top of Arsenal’s incoming list is Martin Zubimendi, the highly-rated midfielder from Real Sociedad. The Spaniard has already arrived in London to finalize the details of his move. Arsenal have reportedly activated his release clause, a hefty €65 million (£55.4m), paving the way for a significant midfield reinforcement.
Closely trailing that move is the proposed signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga. The 30-year-old shot-stopper is expected to complete a £5 million switch to the Emirates in the coming days. Kepa’s arrival will fill the backup goalkeeper role left vacant by Neto, who has returned to Bournemouth after his loan spell with the Gunners.
A new striker is also high on Arsenal’s wishlist, and the club is weighing its options between Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig and Viktor Gyokeres of Sporting CP. Sesko appears to be the preferred option, with ongoing talks between Arsenal and Leipzig, although no deal has been finalized. Meanwhile, reports from Portugal suggest Gyokeres is open to the move, but Sporting’s valuation may prove challenging.
The club is also seeking reinforcements on the left side of their attack. Arsenal has been linked with several high-profile wingers, including Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo. However, Rodrygo’s potential price tag of €90 million (£76.7m) may complicate any negotiations.
Newcastle’s Antony Gordon has also emerged as a target, though sources indicate that any deal for the English winger would command a substantial fee. While the Gunners are clearly shopping in the premium aisle this summer, they remain strategic in pursuing the right players for Arteta’s vision.
There’s also speculation that a defensive signing might be added to the mix. Although no specific names have surfaced yet, insiders suggest Arsenal is exploring options to strengthen the backline before the window closes.
Outgoing transfers will play a crucial role in shaping Arsenal’s final squad. Thomas Partey’s future remains uncertain as his contract nears expiration. While negotiations have taken place, no agreement has been reached, raising the possibility of his free departure. Sevilla’s Lucien Agoume has been floated as a possible replacement. Meanwhile, young goalkeeper Karl Hein could also exit, especially with Kepa’s arrival likely pushing him further down the pecking order. Having impressed on loan at Real Valladolid, Hein is attracting interest from Spanish clubs for a move this summer.
