After Leicester City’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal at the King Power Stadium, veteran striker Jamie Vardy spoke highly of Arsenal’s defensive setup in a post-match interview.
While many consider William Saliba to be the standout defender in Arsenal’s backline, Vardy expressed a different view, highlighting Ben White as the toughest opponent he faced during the match.
Vardy stated, “Everyone believes William Saliba is Arsenal’s best defender, but that’s not true. Their best defender is that guy [Ben White], and I’ve never played against someone like him before…I’m scared of him.”
Since joining Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion, Ben White has been a crucial part of their defense.
His calmness on the ball, tactical awareness, and ability to read the game were evident throughout the match, playing a significant role in helping Arsenal secure a clean sheet against Leicester City.
His solid defensive display prevented Leicester’s attackers from creating clear-cut chances, reinforcing his importance in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Vardy’s comments further solidify White’s growing reputation as one of the Premier League’s top defenders. His performances continue to prove his value to Arsenal, and as the team pushes forward in their campaign, White’s defensive contributions will be vital to their success.
