Barcelona have resumed training under the guidance of coach Hansi Flick as they prepare for their upcoming La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano.
The team is coming off an impressive 4-1 victory over Sevilla and will face Rayo Vallecano next Monday. Currently, Barcelona sits in third place in La Liga, trailing second-placed Atletico Madrid by a single point and league leaders Real Madrid by two points.
According to the Spanish outlet El Nacional, Barcelona could be set for a major transfer move in the summer window, with Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic emerging as a prime target.
Juventus has reportedly put the Serbian forward up for sale, and Flick is keen on bringing him to Camp Nou. The German coach sees Vlahovic as a natural successor to Robert Lewandowski, who turns 37 in August and has shown signs of decline.
Since taking charge, Flick has emphasized the need for a strong, prolific striker who can seamlessly integrate into Barcelona’s tactical setup. Vlahovic appears to fit that profile perfectly.
At 25 years old, the Serbian striker possesses the qualities of a traditional No. 9. Standing at 1.90m, he offers significant aerial presence, strength, and the ability to score with both feet. His combination of physicality, finishing ability, and room for further development makes him an ideal long-term option for Barcelona.
Flick particularly values Vlahovic’s movement in the penalty area, his work off the ball, and his ability to link up with wingers—crucial attributes for a team featuring dynamic wide players like Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.
Despite Juventus being open to selling Vlahovic, Barcelona faces a significant financial hurdle in completing the transfer. The striker’s asking price is estimated to be between €60 million and €70 million, which poses a challenge given Barcelona’s ongoing financial struggles.
To secure the funds, the club may have to offload key players. Potential departures could include Ferran Torres, Ansu Fati, or even Frenkie de Jong, as Barcelona seeks to free up wages and generate additional transfer revenue.
The next couple of weeks will be pivotal in determining whether Barcelona can pull off the signing. If the opportunity arises and the financial conditions are met, the club will likely push to bring Vlahovic to Camp Nou. Flick remains adamant about reinforcing the squad with a top-class striker, and the Serbian forward seems to be his preferred choice.
