Alexander Isak has dispelled rumors about his potential departure from Newcastle United, reaffirming his commitment to the club. The Swedish striker, whose remarkable performances last season attracted interest from top European teams such as Arsenal, addressed the speculation in an interview with The Chronicle.
Last season, Isak scored an impressive 25 goals in 40 appearances, which sparked transfer rumors during the summer. However, discussions about a potential move failed to gain traction and have since subsided.
Recent reports have suggested a “breakdown” in his relationship with Newcastle, but insiders close to the club indicate there is no urgency for contract negotiations, as Isak is already tied to Newcastle until 2028.
In response to the ongoing rumors, Isak maintained a composed stance, stating, “Throughout my career, I have never talked about or commented on transfer rumors during the season.
There have been many such situations in the past, but they don’t affect me.” He emphasized his commitment to Newcastle, saying, “I am fully focused on my role here and believe we can have a fantastic season. I’m not thinking about anything else.”
Isak further addressed the speculation, clarifying that much of the information circulating about his future is inaccurate. “A lot of information and rumors often come out, but much of what I read is not true. That is about all I can say about the whole thing,” he remarked.
Despite the distractions, Isak has continued to perform well this season, scoring five goals in 11 appearances. While Arsenal remains interested in the striker, Newcastle would likely demand over £100 million for his transfer, significantly higher than the £63 million they paid to sign him from Real Sociedad in 2022.
For now, Isak appears focused on contributing to Newcastle’s success and is undeterred by external noise about his future. His comments signal a clear intent to stay and help the club achieve its goals this season, reinforcing his role as a crucial player for the team.
