Barcelona has been impressive this season, but coach Hansi Flick is keen to release players he doesn’t see as essential in the near future.
According to the Spanish newspaper El Nacional, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has solidified his stance on Ansu Fati’s future with the club: Fati, a young Spanish forward, is no longer part of the team’s strategy moving forward. Deco’s priority is to secure an exit for Fati in the upcoming transfer window.
Flick has clarified that he does not view Fati as a key figure in Barcelona’s plans. With the likes of Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, and emerging talent Lamine Yamal firmly entrenched in the attacking lineup, Fati’s chances for substantial playtime are slim.
When he has appeared on the field, Fati has struggled to make a significant impression on the coaching staff and fans, falling short of expectations for a starting role.
Deco believes Fati’s departure could benefit both the club and the player. For Barcelona, selling Fati would relieve the club of his sizable salary and provide funds that could either stabilize the club financially or be used for future player acquisitions.
From Fati’s perspective, moving to a new club would offer him the chance to rebuild his form and secure regular playtime, which would be essential for his career growth.
However, Barcelona faces challenges in offloading Fati. So far, no club has matched Barcelona’s valuation or shown willingness to accommodate Fati’s high salary demands. This lack of interest complicates the situation, as the club has yet to receive a serious offer that would facilitate his transfer.
With the upcoming winter transfer window, there may still be hope for resolving this issue, but the primary hurdle remains finding a team willing to meet Barcelona’s financial expectations and Fati’s personal aspirations.
Although Fati has shown promise in the past, his recent decline in form and the tepid response from the market cast doubts on his future.
Deco is actively working on finding a viable transfer solution that would satisfy Barcelona’s needs, yet the lack of concrete offers makes Fati’s future at the club more uncertain. As Flick has emphasized that Fati is not part of his plans, it appears increasingly likely that the young forward’s journey with Barcelona may be nearing its end.
