Hansi Flick is intensifying his efforts to shape Barcelona’s future, with Aston Villa’s rising talent, John Duran, becoming a top priority on his list. The young Colombian striker has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising new players, capturing the attention of Europe’s elite clubs.
However, Barcelona appears most eager to secure him, envisioning Duran as an ideal long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski.
Reports from Spanish newspaper Defensa Central suggest Flick views Duran as a perfect fit for Barcelona’s playing style. Despite his youth, Duran has demonstrated exceptional physical prowess and goal-scoring ability, traits that hint at a bright future. With Lewandowski continuing to perform at a high level, Barcelona aims to give Duran time to adapt and grow before taking on a central role in the team’s attack.
However, acquiring Duran will not be straightforward. Aston Villa recognizes the striker’s potential and won’t release him without substantial compensation. To facilitate the transfer, Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, has devised a plan that includes both financial compensation and a player swap.
The proposal centers on Ferran Torres, a Spanish winger who has struggled to establish himself at Barcelona. Deco sees Torres as a potential asset for Aston Villa, which could help reduce Duran’s transfer fee.
The proposed deal reportedly includes Torres plus an additional €20 million in cash. Barcelona hopes this offer will appeal to Aston Villa, especially considering Torres’ prior success in the Premier League with Manchester City. Torres’ adaptability and experience in English football might make him a valuable addition to Aston Villa under manager Unai Emery’s guidance.
If Aston Villa accepts Deco’s proposal, Barcelona will acquire one of Europe’s most promising young talents in Duran, while Torres will have a fresh start to reinvigorate his career in the Premier League.
The move could be mutually beneficial: Barcelona secures a young forward to develop alongside Lewandowski, and Torres finds an opportunity to play a more central role with an ambitious English club.
