Manchester United will aim for their third consecutive win in all competitions when they visit Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday. The Red Devils are seeking to avenge their heavy 4-0 defeat at the same venue last season. Crystal Palace, under the management of Oliver Glasner, have struggled this season, going winless in their first four Premier League matches. They have only managed two draws, against Chelsea and Leicester City, leaving them in need of a victory to jumpstart their campaign.
Palace showed some resilience in their recent fixtures, securing a 1-1 draw at Chelsea and a 2-2 comeback against Leicester, with Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring twice, including a late penalty. In the EFL Cup, Palace have performed better, defeating Queens Park Rangers 2-1 to reach the fourth round, after an earlier 4-0 victory over Norwich City. They will hope to carry their cup form into the league when they face a Manchester United side they defeated both home and away last season.
Manchester United’s start to the 2024-25 season was shaky, suffering back-to-back Premier League losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and Liverpool. However, Erik ten Hag’s men have bounced back, winning their last two matches with an impressive aggregate score of 10-0. After a 3-0 Premier League victory against Southampton, they thrashed Barnsley 7-0 in the EFL Cup, with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho each scoring three goals across the two games. Christian Eriksen and Antony also contributed to United’s dominant display.
Despite these wins, United will be cautious, as their recent victories were against a third-tier team and a newly-promoted Premier League side. Nevertheless, the consecutive wins have boosted morale as they prepare for a busy period with five matches in 16 days across the Premier League and Europa League. Sitting 10th in the league, United will be keen to improve their poor away form in London, where they have won just two of their last 16 Premier League games.
