- Young Polish goalkeeper Hubert Graczyk has joined Manchester United’s under-21 squad with aspirations of eventually breaking into the first team. Formerly part of Arsenal’s academy, Graczyk expressed his excitement about the move on Instagram, saying, “Buzzing to have signed for this massive club, let’s get to work.”
During his time at Arsenal, Graczyk played at various youth levels, including the U18s and U21s, but he never made it to the first team. His departure is part of a broader reshuffle within Arsenal’s goalkeeping ranks this summer, which has seen a significant number of young goalkeepers leave the club.
This exodus includes the departure of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton, alongside six other young goalkeepers who have moved to different clubs. Among them are Ovie Ejeheri, who transferred to Midtjylland; Arthur Okonkwo, who joined Wrexham; Noah Cooper, who is now with Stoke City; James Hillson, who signed with Southend; and Owen Asemota, who moved to Aston Villa. As a result, Arsenal’s goalkeeping department has undergone a considerable overhaul as the club prepares for the future.
While Arsenal adapts to these changes, Manchester United is optimistic about Graczyk’s potential as he begins his journey at the club. United’s decision to sign the young keeper comes at a time when the team is facing challenges on the pitch, despite significant investments in the transfer market.
United’s season has started with mixed results. They secured a late win in their opening match against Fulham, with new signing Joshua Zirkzee scoring the decisive goal. However, subsequent matches have been disappointing, with a 2-1 loss to Brighton and a heavy 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool.
